Back in the 1950's, muskie's were on the minds of two Wisconsin men who fished the waters of the north woods. Wanting to expand their line of lures they developed the Nicky mouse. Designed to mimic a real water mouse, the lure proved to be very successful. The originals are now highly sought after by antique lure collectors. The baits are now made again by one of the original makers. August Machtig of Sheboygan, Wisconsin is producing them. The Gopher baits are constructed with wooden bodies, unique flock finish and through wire construction. This bait is designed to fish slow and you provide the action as there is no lip on the bait. For best results, cast the bait out over submergent vegetation let it settle. Now, give the lure a twitch and slowly snake it through pads. Great for low light bass fishing.
